WAIM’s Annual Walk For Warmth

  • First Congregational Church 199 Valley Street Windham, CT, 06226 United States (map)

SCC will once again be partnering with WAIM to help ensure our neighbors stay safely housed and warm this winter! Walk for Warmth is an annual fundraiser for WAIM’s Energy Assistance Fund.

Why Walk for Warmth?

· Hundreds of low-income income families, including many children in the region, confront depletion of their deliverable fuel supply or the discontinuation of their electric or gas service every year- WAIM is there to assist.

· Energy crises are one of the contributing factors of homelessness in our area.

· Families who lose electric, gas or oil service are also in danger of losing custody of their children.

· The Connecticut Energy Assistance Program funds have been cut reducing the amount of assistance available to meet energy need.

· Funds donated to the WAIM Private Energy Assistance program go directly to helping WAIM’s clients with emergency needs. Most of these funds are raised during the annual Walk for Warmth

The walk is about 2 miles long, with individuals and families invited to participate. Refreshments and camaraderie included!

Registration begins at 12:30pm

Interfaith service starts at 1:30pm

Walk for Warmth starts at 2:15pm followed by refreshments!

The link to register is below. We will be walking as a group, but funds raised will go directly to WAIM and not to a team fund. Please click “fundraising individually” when you register.
