Perseverance In Gratitude
As we follow the crucified Messiah, we are sometimes surprised when we encounter temptations and trials of various kinds, and we wonder where is God in it all? Or how in the world we will make it through? The testimony of Scripture, history and our own experience testify that, in spite of the challenges that confront us, there is hope! There is a way to face our challenges so that we are not diminished but finally made mature and whole and holy.
Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of faith. . . . . Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart . . . .and since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire."
