Good Friday Service of Shadows

Service of Shadows
Enter into the significance of Christ's death as this Good Friday reflection leads you from the Upper Room to the foot of the cross. The service features a dramatic retelling of the crucifixion story from the Gospel of Mark and a modified Tenebrae (Latin for shadows or darkness) Service.
This service symbolizes the encroaching darkness with the extinguishing of the candles after each reading. The last candle extinguished represents the apparent victory of the powers of darkness in our Lord’s death. A moment of silence is observed and is broken with the clashing cymbal to symbolize the closing of the tomb.
